This Senior Business Intelligence Analyst position will serve as both an analyst and consultant for the design and implementation of data warehouse and business intelligence initiatives for one of Australia’s largest, most successful organisations.
The successful candidate will combine business and technical experience and business acumen in such as way as to achieve business-IT partnership and win-win implementation scenarios. This will further the Company’s access to and leverage of strategic information assets for use in decision support.
This is analytical role partnering ????? ????? business functions (e.g. finance, supply chain, operations, procurement, HR and service) and key IT functions (leveraged teams, business intelligence developers, infrastructure & operations, applications). A highly refined understanding of business process is required.
Business Relationships:
• Direct report to Head of Business Intelligence Solutions
• Frequent interaction with regional Business Unit users, managers, and directors
• Frequent interaction with regional IT analysts, managers, and directors
• Frequent interaction with BI/DW team members on a global basis
• Interaction with technology and business process consultants and vendors
• Acts along-side project managers, business analysts, systems analysts, developers and users
DUTIES:
• Responsibilities include information analysis and delivery models supporting a national Business Intelligence / Data Warehouse strategy for decision support. This encompasses (but is not limited to) articulation and analysis of business requirements, assessment of existing functionality, execution of gap analysis, negotiation of gap closure, creation of relevant documentation, assistance in creation of functional & technical designs, functional testing, and training.
• Critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying true needs
• Proactively communicate and collaborate with external and internal customers and/or vendors to analyze information needs and functional requirements and deliver artifacts as appropriate. This may include but is not limited to business requirements documents or functional specifications, data models, use cases/business scenarios, test cases, storyboards, interface requirements
• Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans
• Provide guidance to business and management concerning the impact of new BI business requirements on BI & reporting processes, related applications/systems, and costs
• Evaluate BI tools and their value proposition
• Serve as the conduit between the business and the technical teams through which requirements flow and are developed/implemented
• Collaborate with the business and technical teams to achieve win-win implementation solutions
• Act as a project manager when required
• Lead, mentor, and foster a productive work environment based on mutual respect and teamwork
Desired Skills & Experience
• 5-10 years general business experience, with 3-5 years of that experience as a business intelligence analyst, business analyst, financial analyst or project manager in BI or ERP projects or within a business unit
• Strong demonstrated analytical skills including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business requirements and translate them into reporting requirements
• Ability to successfully engage in and deliver on multiple initiatives simultaneously
• Excellent listening, verbal, and written English communication skills
• Ability to engage diverse individuals and teams and subject matter experts throughout the organizational hierarchy, both locally and remotely
• Experience in Software and Business Process Re-engineering
• Experience with SAP Business Objects and SQL isessential.
• Knowledge of one or more Software Development Life Cycles
• Knowledge of project management methodology and lifecycle; PMP / PMI Certification a plus
• Excellent planning and organizational skills
• Development experience using MS Access or MS Excel
