We're looking for a pro-active curious guy to take ownership of the IT infrastructure of a small trading company with a couple of offices in Sydney and the UK. You need to be 'god of the system' - this is your baby and your setup. It's a small office so you need to also to be a nice guy and know how to play well with others.

Responsibilities:

Manage and monitor their server infrastructure that consists of VMware virtualization hosts running Linux and Windows guests, Zimbra email server, Samba file server and PDC.

Engineer and implement solutions for new infrastructure projects.

Manager their LAN, WAN and internet connectivity linking offices and data centres using DLink/Cisco switches/routers and firewalls.

Liasise with hardware, software and network vendors for problem resolution.

Provide desktop support to traders using 3rd party trading applications and software developers.

Improve theirinternalIT documentation and processes.

Provide out of hours on-call ????? ????? case of critical outages (Usually once a month if that).

MandatorySkills:

Advanced Linux serveradministrationincluding shell scripting and Samba, DNS, FTP, SMTP configuration

Intermediate Windows 7/XP desktop and server administration

Good understanding of network routing and security including firewall and IPSec VPN administration

Understanding of virtualisation technologies

Excellent communications skills

Attention to detail

Ability to multi-task

Desired Skills:

Good understanding of storage technologies

NAS, SAN, DAS, RAID levels

VMWare ESX experience

Experience with IT infrastructure monitoring ????? ????? SNMP, Nagios preferred

Cisco IOS administration

Python scripting experience

Qualifications:
Linux, Windows and other vendor certification
Bachelorsdegree in any engineering ????? ????? discipline

Professional experience:
4+ years of experience in a similar role
