BI Analyst (ETL, Cognos, OLAP, Data Warehousing) Melbourne, $80k-$100k

 

  • South East Melbourne Location

  • Must have a well rounded BI/DW Skill-Set (ETL, OLAP Modelling,Cubes,Reports etc)

  • Permenant Role working on implementation of DW project
  • My client is a market-leading end-user who have enjoyed a senstational 2011 and are looking forward to a successful 2012 & beyond. Committed to the use of BI/DW as a philosophy and a means of ensuring ????? ?????, first class service and growth they are looking at a serious BI implementation this year. Because of this I am looking for a Cognos ETL Consultant to join their team on permenant bases.

    This is a full life-cycle BI/DW role and I am looking for an experienced full life-cycle practitioner to join this team. In this newly created role you will be solutions orientated and work from end to end on flagship BI/DW Cognos projects (from requirements analysis - gathering ????? ?????, user workshops etc right through to information delivery, user support and training)

    It is essential that the successful applicant has a Consultative & solutions driven approach backed by very strong technical BI/DW administration skills relating to the dimentional modelling & ETL of the data warehouse through to the administration of my clients Cognos BI suite (metadata modelling, OLAPmodelling, cube builds etc) & can take this from the ETL/back end of the Datawarehousing/BI process right through to information delivery (reporting both ad-hoc and regular, analysis, scorecards, dashboards) and the portal/UI side of the BI process.

    You must be able to work to development standards and promote best practice as an externalETL Consultant & be committed to knowledge transfer, documentation & following internal processes (my client operates in a highly regulated industry).

    Solid SQL ServerDBA skills would be highly desirable as you maintain database availability and performance & are data quality focused. Skills in areas such as advanced replication & clusters would be useful. Strong diagnostic/problem solving skills are essential.

    A proven track record in the design and build of Cognos cubes & the maintenance and availability of the Cognos suite is essential as is a strong grasp of wider Datawarehousing principles and philosophies. Strong solutions design and build skills are essential as is the ability to build strong internal relationships with the key stakeholders internally. Strong organisational and commercial awareness are key as you will need to understand my clients business processes, rules and the challenges/opportunities they face.

    Technically all candidates need solid SQL Server skills (v2008) along with SSIS or similar (Hyperion, Brio, Business Objects) along with powerful Cognos 8 application skills (Reports Studio, Analysis Studio, Transformer/Powerplay, Framework Manager etc).

    Candidates need to have works in organisationally and technically complex companies, with high volume transactional databases/datwarehouses and have proven BI application development skills, strong modelling skills (Data and Metadata) along with formal DW design and artchitecture methodologies, ETL design/tools and DBA exp.

    In this exciting newly created role you will be working in a small team of 3 and some external vendorsrebuilding DW from scratch, thus I need candidates who can work end to endon this project.The company has a relaxed culture that encourages learning and development.
