Linux Systems Support Engineer

 

  • Brisbane CBD

  • Project Manage Technical Tasks

  • Work along side a highly technical well motivated company
  • Provide a high standard of technical support services to Customers. Contrubute to the overall success of the company by maintaining customer loyalty towards my clients poducts and services.

    Responsibility:

    • Provide quality onsite and remote technical support service activities for Silicon Graphics provided computer systems andperipherals.
    • Install newley delivered systems H/W and S/W and provide an overview of the system features to customer system and administration staff.
    • Manage any escalated technical issues according to the escalation procedure.
    • Provide software support services on the OS (operationing system), networking, and filesystems
    • Project manage major technical tasks i.e. installations, custom services and retrofits
    • Participate on the 7x24 support roster.
    • SAN/NAS
    • Apache
    • ESX
    • DNS
    • TCP/IP
    • Shell scripting


    Essential Criteria:

    · Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline is expected.

    · Minimum 5+yrs experience in a related or similar role.

    · Proven skills in customer relations and customer service.

    · Proven problem solving ability.

    · Working knowledge of and experienced with Linux and TCP/IP network administration

    · Effective presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

    · Self-motivated individual, able to handle concurrent demands, and with attention to detail.

    Desirable Criteria:

    · Familiarity with programming techniques including shell scripts and languages (eg C, HTML)

    · Experience with x86 clusters, management tools and fault finding.

    · A developed area of expertise: Linux kernels, graphics, inter-networking topologies

    · Experience with Storage design/deployment particularly SAN & NAS

    · High level of integrity with a passion to excel.

    ·An ability to communicate complex information in simple terms
