Coordinator: Network Architecture

    The Network Services team provides the underlying resources for telephony and data networks based on industry standards hardware, software, protocols and procedures, and includes the telephone system, interface to voice mail, carrier interconnection, Internet firewalls and gateways for data, Virtual Private Network connections for off-site users, wide-area inter-campus links, on-campus core network, building distribution and local on-campus wired and wireless access to the data network.

    The architecture of this environment forms a vital part of the University's IT infrastructure which is required to be operational as closely to 24 hours per day, 365 days per year as possible. You will work in conjunction with IT professionals from other teams to ensure a stable, consistent platform to support learning, teaching, research and administration for approximately 37,000 staff and student users.

    As the Coordinator: Network Architecture, you will report to the Manager: Network Services and provide technical leadership within the Network Architecture team which is responsible for:
    • current and future architecture of active network equipment on all campuses;
    • inter-campus voice and data links;
    • telephony facilities including PBX, VOIP, voice mail and carrier interconnection;
    • on-campus wireless networks;
    • network security; and
    • connection to the Internet.

    To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate experience in both leading a team of technical staff; and the design, development, maintenance and support of a wide range of networks in a complex environment. You will have detailed knowledge of various technologies and the ability to contribute to strategic planning and policy development. Demonstrated project management skills in overseeing large projects are also an important attribute in this exciting new role.
